Wallwalkers expertise was engaged for the BBC2 series Climbing Great Buildings, in which Dr Jonathan Foyle reached the heart of a number of Britain’s most iconic structures. Fifteen great buildings climbed including palaces, castles, cathedrals, bridges, museums and stations. This involved nine weeks of filming, over seventy climbs, abseils, traverses, zip lines and bridges. Five hundred ropes rigged and over one thousand anchors devised.
The rigging services which enabled these climbs to take place safely were provided by our company. We were selected for the project due to our long association with the repair and conservation of Heritage buildings, with over twenty years experience in this field. Structures we have worked on range from windmills to medieval castles, cathedrals and abbeys to village churches, eighteenth century palaces to twentieth century office blocks.
We are able to provide a range of services from video/photographic survey work to major stone replacement, all without the need for intrusive and costly scaffolding or mechanical access equipment.
