Who
are the WallWalkers?
The
Team
Ann and Norman Stanier set up the company in 1988. Norman originally
trained as a PE teacher and ran Outdoor Activity Centres before deciding
to combine his interests as a climbing instructor and love of old buildings
into a commercial business.
With health and safety becoming increasingly important, building owners
and managers were looking for a cost-effective and safe alternative to
the traditional steeplejack for all their high level maintenance requirements.
Scaffolding is often inappropriate, costly or sometimes simply impossible,
so roped access was the answer.

Principal WallWalkers, Norman and Chris Milford are expert
climbers and skilled craftsmen. (Although Norman emphasises that you
don’t have to be an expert climber to
abseil - you just need a good head for heights!). Over the years they
have developed expertise in many traditional skills - such as the use
of lime mortars - which are now in much demand. This hands-on experience
has been reinforced by more formal training, primarily through SPAB.
Over the last 15 years WallWalkers has become one of the countries leading
roped access specialists, with a wealth of building maintenance and surveying
experience. |
