Lancaster Castle required a programme of repairs to masonry including replacement of cills, mullions and lintels to many of its window openings, including the infamous Witches Tower.  Scaffolding would obviously have presented major problems for the Prison Service but the use of Roped Access meant that the system could be set up at the start of each day and removed at the end of each day.  The £600,000 contract included large areas of repointing, defrassing, stabilising and stone replacement and enabled all parts of the extensive prison building to remain fully operational.
