The
Benefits
Safety
One of the main concerns of our clients is, quite rightly, safety. With
increasing examples of litigious society
building owners and managers have to take no chances. Roped Access provides
great peace of mind for,
as we often point out to our users, unlike a ladder, tower or scaffold,
it is impossible to fall off a rope and, we always use two. As recognised
by the HSE Roped Access is quick, has
far higher safety margins and uses a better trained workforce than is
standard in the Construction Industry.
Single Point Contact
As a well established company, seen by those involved in heritage work
as the market leader, Wallwalkers is well placed to provide both access
and specialist contracting skills. This single source contract can help
clients save time, as well as contain costs. Wallwalkers will coordinate
all aspects of access of site and manage the specialist areas of work,
facilitate regular progress meetings at whatsoever service level the
client requires.
Care of the Building
This is catered for in two areas. The first of these is by the lightweight
nature of roped access equipment. The second is by the skilled application
of protection techniques that have been developed by Wallwalkers over
the years. Soft tape slings, carefully protected nylon ropes, a large
range of edge protection, plus specialist systems of rollers, combine
to ensure that not a mark is left on treasured stonework or ancient bricks.
Wallwalkers are increasingly being asked to carry out safety inspections
on heritage buildings and so developed systems to ensure the safety of
the public in busy areas below, without having to interrupt traffic or
pedestrian movements. This avoids costly and disruptive ground operations.
Light foam backed boards can protect delicate roofs below a work area
and we have also developed some innovative methods of using debris netting
to provide complete protection in exposed areas.
Low Environmental Impact
Many ancient buildings are part of our national heritage and visitors
come to them for enjoyment of their peace and tranquillity, as well as
for their visual splendour and inspiration. Such a building swathed in
scaffolding can often lead to disappointment. Roped Access means that
a building can remain both visible and in use during work and visitors
often remark on the additional interest, that essential work carried
out in such a way, adds to a visit, plus the consideration shown by the
client in choosing such a method of work. This can lead to avoidance
of loss of potential income during inspection, maintenance and conservation
work.
Site Security
Increased insurance rates and the responsibility of caring for a site
often lead to concern about security. A site accessed by Wallwalkers
can easily be made secure as the equipment used is light and easy to
handle. At the end of the day ropes and other equipment can be easily
hauled up out of site and reach, thus minimising potential for vandalism,
damage or theft.
